"Punk Band Starts Riot" the headline screamed. And it was all true. As the Cumnock Cronicle confirmed, "fans" had proceeded to smash up the interior of Jenny Tears public house and beat seven shades of shit out of each other due to the fact that the band wouldn't play "some real music" like "The Clash or Oasis". But then this was back in those heady days of 1995. Times have changed and people have moved on. Most notably, the members of MGE. After many line-up changes, loads of gigs all over Europe, more than a drop of Buckfast and cider and a recent full length cd it looks as if the band could be calling it a day. They recorded some songs for an aborted German release earlier this year so we at Self Destruct thought it would be fitting to put it out as a final chapter of one of the best punk bands to come out of Scotland in the last 5 years. The "Reality Check" 6 track CD will be out in December. As for Machine Gun Etiquette...?
